So I bought The White Stripes cd Elephant. I heard that it was a Classic must buy,....so I had been thinking about getting it off and on for sometime. See I burned White Blood Cells from Becky and it's alright...I mean I don't think it will become one of my favorite albums that I play frequently but..it serves it's purpose....so I had been debating whether or not I really need another one of their albums (Especially since the 'new rock' band I adopted was The Vines (over TWS and The Strokes (can't stand the strokes) ...but had been craving some new music and I'd been listening to my more raw rock albums so the other day when I got paid I decided to get it. ....And I have to say that I love it. LOVE IT!. ...now granted I don't think I've listened to it in it's entirity yet....(mainly because most of my cd listening occurs in the studio or the car.

(side note: I played it for the first time on my drive to the haute the other day but I switched cds when I was getting really tired driving and needed something that I knew the words to that I could sing along with to keep myself awake.)

but it's absolutely brillient! absolutely fucking brillent! It goes from simple guitar power riffs to driving beats to complex stacked cords to a cover to simple little slow song, sung by a woman with minimal insturmentation. Really those are the first 5 songs!

I LOVE every song I've heard and.....and love them more and more with every listen. This album makes it on to my list of Great albums. Along side Poe's "Haunted" and NIN's "The Fragile". And when I mean great...I'm not referencing whether or not it is full of songs I love...what I'm referencing is the journey the album takes you on, the over all mood...what it has to say....the understanding of when to be simple and vulernable, delicate... and when to be complex and when to be angry and Powerful. and how the songs are placed together to take you on this ride. all that comblined with great lyrics and catchy hooks and melodies that lodge themselves permanently in your brain.

This album is raw pure emotion in all its forms...making the listener feel everything from lust, to insecruity to sensuality to bitterness. They were NOT pussies when they made this album. They put it all out there, balls to the wall as they say......no regrets.

Plus the L card and the cover art in general are amazing....and the art on the actual cd is so beautiful! I say it's the most beautifully designed cd in my case ..nothing since the Fragile ...or Poe's Haunted...(oddly enough) have I seen a cd where the artist really took the time to do something special on the actual disc. ...and I'm not talking about all those cds that have pictures of the musicians on them...that doesn't really count. (ex: Fiona "Tidal, Jewel "This Way"...that's not really a unique or clever way to deal with the visual on the actual cd.

But....I'm not saying that one has to be unique and clever with visual on the disc. ....This album is just an overwellming package of Greatness.
