it is a obviously the one depicted above. Yes, you are looking at it right. Isn't it fantastic? Isn't it just the perfect symbol of how we need to see the world differently? Kinda like in Dead Poets Society when Mr. Keeting told us to stand on our desks and re-evaluate the world around us. ...Who said North was up? We in the States have such a narrow minded outlook of the world...and So much so that even the sight of a different view of the worlds actual layout is shocking! We need to look at the world from a different angle. Learn to see things from another point of view. Learn to ask questions. and not take things spoon fed to us...and say something is right just because that's the way it has always been. Use are brains and think about things. There are so many things we can learn about the world if we just open ourselves up to the possiblity that the way we things is not the only right answer. And given the climate of the country that seems really difficult. So many people out there seem so afraid to see things differently, to consider the possiblity that what they consider a definate could be changed simply by a picture of it flipped over. And I know I am still "shocked and awed" by this map. I still do a double take. ...and that makes me wonder about myself and the things that I have accept at face value and not questioned. ...Something so familar so different. It still makes me speechless. Right now I'm fumbling for just the right worlds to explain how it affects me....and truly it is just such a grand emotion and can't put it into words. ..all I can say is that I'm glad I have it and I want to share it with everyone! |
