  Art, History, and Sadomasicism.October 10, 2001 12:03 a.m. Related Reading So I was sitting my art history class today and my prof was talking about the surrealists and how they were sadomasicists, and how this was reflected in their work. At one point this girl in the back raises her hand and asks a question. "So, this might sound dumb, and don't laugh at me or anything, but what is sadomasicism?" To which the entire class did snicker...and the prof alittle too, but he then proceeded to give a very analytical discription of what sadomasicism is...."It's based on the combination of these 2 people...One whose name was ___ and the other ____ (I forget the names). Sadomasicism is when you have a dominate individual and submissive individual. Now, to inflict pain on someone who is not willing is nasty, but to inflict pain on someone who is willing is entirely different...it's....it's all about desire.." Then her girl pipes up..."Oh, is it like S&M?" ........................ |
