Yesterday a friend of mine was talking about how No Doubt has sold out because they sound pop'y and that Gwen is the whore of the music industry because she will sing with anyone.

Well.........I disagree with that, and formed a pretty good arguement too, righ off the top of my head.

#1. The originaltor of No Doubt...and it's orginal song writer was Gwen's brother Eric. He was really into the british ska band "madness" and he's writing reflected this. He has said that he can't see, but Gwen could, which is why he would have her sing. Soon a bad was formed. ...Tony their current bassist wasn't a fan of ska, but when he saw the engery with this band exuded he wanted to be a part of it.

Eric left the band when they began work on their breakhrough album "Tragic Kingdom". He currently works on "The simpsons" .....With their original song writer,...and link to Ska music gone...should they be force to stay entirely ska and ignore their own personal influences?

Plus as an artist there is nothing more boring the doing the same thing over and over, thus of course they are going to change.

Now as for Gwen being the whore of the music industry because she will sing with anyone....and think that is ABSURD! I think it shows her as being open minded. I mean, if Dr. Dre called you up and wanted to you to sing on a track,....der! of course you would say yes!...If Moby called you up and wanted you to sing of a track......the same thing. I think this shows who she has a respect for all these artists and wants to learn from them. and...of course going back to the idea of them selling out....if you are working with so many different people...the way they work is going to influence you and whether you mean it to or not it's going to come out in your sound...and she is of course only one element of the band. Imagine 4 people colaborating. They are just moving in a new direction, and I don't see it as selling out. Now Sugar Ray...they sold out.
