So the new OTEP album, House of Secrets, came out today. I was blown away by it.

You might remember that I've been in love with this band since the release of their first album but I was debating whether or not I wanted to get this one because I wasn't sure how much hardcore I needed in my cd collection. ...but today when my mom asked me if I wanted to go to Best Buy, I took it as a sign.

And it's Brillent! Sooo brillent. I was so impressed by the cover art of their last album, walking around showing it to people....hell I still show the cover art to people......This one? so much better! and Even more ground breaking. ..they are all about pushing limits...and bounderies....so of course even their cover art would be doing that. I mean, this band is the whole package! Every aspect of the art is importent, from the cover art to the music to the live show to the website...everything.

but the cover art...the case itself...the plastic.....has one side dark red the other dark blue. the back card pops out and you use the case to read the L card in 3D. I mean, it's the same beauiful dark, abject art design as before, but this time it's 3D! It is soooo cool, I can't express it enough.

And the album...wow. the performance. wow ....the vocalist even sings on this one! I read somewhere she references herself as an orator not a singer...she is usually speaking, or rapping or whispering, or screaming,.....but this one she actually sings!!! The fact that they have a song (the title track if you're curious) where she sings over a melodic guitar riff, and then in the middle they rock out. ...I mean total head banging...and then the singing and guitar comes back....it's such a different sound for them. And it's awesome!!! I have so much respect for what they want to do artisticly.

Also they are Very Political. They have a song on this album called Warhead ...which calls Dub an Infidel...things like "This is a Catastropy!!! This is a Catastrophy!! ....Will This War Last? Will This War Last? ....He Lied, They Died!!!"

Also, when I was altering my own OTEP aim I icon I was looking though faces I could choose and I chose Dub. ...and the song lyrics I picked were from this album,...but I don't know if I'm interprating them in the intended way...but I'm sure if she knew she would agree.

The first song on the album as a interlude of Otep (the vocalist) Shouting "While you live under my roof, You Will Respect Me! WHILE YOU LIVE UNDER MY ROOF, YOU WILL RESPECT ME!! WHILE YOU LIVE UNDER MY ROOF YOU WILL RESPECT ME!!" And she's also hitting something hard. I'm picturing her slamming something down hard against a table.

And while that could be coralated with an angry parent....I also like the idea of yelling that at the adminstration. ....I mean...the White House is My House! ....It's Your house.....we just let him live there. He needs respect us!

I got this on sale for $12......I think I would pay 30 for it, easy.

I hate that there are shitting posers out there, like Linkin' Park who are the metal equolent of Backstreet Boys who are in existance so preteens can say they are into metal. And my OTEP is struggling for money. We need to be supporting Artists! ...OTEP above anything else are Artist. Breaking the rules, pushing the bounderies. I just LOVE this band!!!
