I don't know if I wrote this here, but my plans changed. what I ended up doing was writing my favorite fiona lyrics on paper and then drawing apples on them with pastels. ...It started as this thing...I just write lyrics because they are what really impact me. ..and then as the process progressed it became amazing and cathartic, I started really understand what it was I was doing! I was Telling Sony to pay attention to her lyrics! And that She must be heard and that they should Release The (Extraordinary) Machine from The Machine!! The pieces really evolved. I sent some really amazing art to sony that I'm sure was thrown away. Now, I know there are alot of fans right now who are upset with the new production of this album. I personally thing it's a lot of bullshit. the fans basicly think fiona is lying. They don't believe that this is her real voice, the think that she allowed Sony to Saturate it. But I don't believe it was saturated! I posted this on the Fiona Message board earlier. I personally haven't heard the Brion versions. But from my listening of this album I am even more convinced that Fiona is a goddess. This album is amazing! when I heard the bit of O'sailor on the site I knew fans were upset by it, but to me it seemed quintessential Fiona. Someone mentioned they heard alot of Tidal in this album, I got alot of Paper bag, which is the best song on When the Pawn. I heard Fiona say on NPR that the leaked recordings were very much a "Jon Brion" album. What you are responding to with those recordings is Brion, not Fiona. If she felt those recordings were her voice she would have released them. Like I said, I haven't heard them, but I'm sure they are amazing. I would very much like to hear them one day. I've read the voicals are very raw and emotive and Brion's production intense. However, there is all kinds of art in the world, and simple is beautiful too. The focus of this album is not the extravant production, but Fiona's Voice and Fiona's Lyrics, Fiona's SONGS! I love hearing Fiona Sing on this album, she's really showcasing how her voice has matured! ---------------------------------------------------- I totally ear orgasmed at my first listen of Extraordianry Machine! ...And I mean the song! The first SONG gave me an orgasm and it just got better from there. And I'm so glad I bought the Dual disc (though people have had trouble with it working) because the live performances on it are amazing. The first time I watched the recording of Paper Bag it brought Tears to my eyes! I haven't listened to it all yet....Why, I guess because I want to give it my full attention, I only have a few songs left to listen to, but I think it might be her best album yet. It has such a strong voice and a cohesive feel, not just a collection of great songs. It feels like an album. Really Fiona's best work is yet to come and I'm so glad I'm around for the ride....The whole ride, from the begining. Fiona Lives! |
