![]() Evanesance concertAugust 04, 2004 6:26 p.m. Related Reading So I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but B won tickets to see Evanesance! I was all excited about going with him to see it, but it turned out he had to work yesterday and he gave me the tickets to go with someone else...which I did. The show was pretty good. The light show had much to be desired but Amy Lee was Impressive. Her voice seemed in fine form last night. I saw their live show on mtv months ago and it seemed that her rocking out on stage hindered her breath support making it difficult to hit those notes on full voice, but...I guess the months of performing has put her in physical better shape enough that she's not stuggling for breath as she's running around the stage. I was really impressed by that because she really really rocked out and her voice was still there for the big notes. I also love how gorgeous she is! And she has such a normal body type. I mean she has meat on her bones and it's hot! I mean we talk about pop stars being skinny and pretty, but rock chicks are traditionally that way. I mean, women I admire, Shirly Manson, Fiona Apple, Poe, Ani, all of them are on the small side. I mean Jewel has always been considered to be the voluptous singer, and she is....but why should there be only one? I love how we are getting women like Amy Lee and Otep (vocalist for Otep) who are strong muscular or tough beef fed women! As whole the concert was pretty good, most of them time I see artists who have a bigger back library, but that's okay. ...One of the coolest moments was when they played Smashing Pumplin's Zero for their encore. ...and That's totally one of my favorite Pumpkins songs. It was funny,...I was showing my age jumping up and shouting out all the words, "Emptiness is Loneliness and Loneliness is Cleanliness and Cleanliness is Godliness and God is Empty just like me!". While the tiny boppers stood around confused. Made me feel kinda old, but that's okay. My back feels like I was hit repeatedly with a stick. I am so sore! I was jumping and head banging and flalling my arms all around and just really feeling and getting into the music. It was very catheritic because first off I don't really do that at most concerts, but since we were on the lawn it worked, and secondly I have so much emotional baggage invested in that album, I mean so often when I was in the car driving with Jeff that was the album he often wanted to listen to, so there are many songs that I corralate with him, which is also interesting how I saw this concert right when he has sort of remerged again. I kept thinking how Otep would hate the general step up...how there was a fair amount of downtime, and like I said the light show wasn't great,...but the idea of fully releasing into the music...that's something I've gotten from Otep. And I was in the parking lot after the concert and we were parked way out as far as possible, and there was one other car parked right next to us, and this guy gets out and asks me if I saw one of the bands and I said no, and asked if they were any good, and he said yes, they were this third favorite band after Linkin' Park and Nickleback. ...And given the horrible nature of those two bands I asked him if he knew Otep, and I played him a bit of their first album. ...If those are you 2 favorite bands you needed to be exposed to more. I started telling him about the Otep song "Warhead" which is anti-bush and he said that he wouldn't like that because he is pro-bush and thinks he's a good guy. ...And I just stared at him, I was dumbfounded! I mean....I couldn't believe that I was confronted with a hardcore youngster telling me he was pro-bush. ....I couldn't even form the words to argue my point because I was just in sheer disblief that such a person existed! (plus I had just been thrashing myself around for an hour or so...so I'm sure my brain was a bit fuzzy. I just could not believe it! but as a whole, it was a good night and I wish I hadn't left my Evanesance cd is C's car after the 4th. |
