So I 'argued' with this guy about Creed today. I personally think Creed sucks ass very hard. Ugh. freaking Eddie Vedder school of singing. anyway,...this guy I know liked them apparently, and I told him that I told someone once that I didn't like them and they asked me if it was bacause they were too Christian for me. ....Granted...while I do love NIN, and they are one of my top 2 favorites, ....my other favorite band is the Normals, and they are a 'Christian' band. ...I don't think they are like most Christian bands, which is why I liked them. But that's beside the point... I don't decided bands I like by what their religious beliefs are. I have a very large NIN sticker on my car, and I've driven to some very strict Christian schools to see my Normals and I come out expecting to see my car Keyed. If I argue constantly that music does not influence someones bliefs or actions unless they allow it to....doesn't that work for me? ..for example, in the NIN song, "The Wretched" Trent has a line saying, "The clouds with part and the sky crack open, and God himself will reach his fucking arm though, just to push you down, to hold you down" ...And I disagree with that. Um...he has another one 'your God is Dead and no one cares, if their is a hell, I'll see you there" Disagree with that too, but ya know...but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop listening to his music, which I love. Everyone knows NIN for those types of lyrics...but what about "She Shines in a world full of ugliness, she matters when everything is meaningless. Fragile she doesn't see her beauty, she tries to get away. Some times it seems that nothing is worth saving, I can't watch her slip away,...I won't let you fall apart." I mean how AWESOME and beautiful is that! I would LOVE for some guy to say that to me. wow! Anyway, my point is that I don't base my musical tastes on religious beliefs.

Anyway...this guy said that Creed wasn't Christian.....Um...yes they are. ..he said they aren't because they don't preach in their music (yes they do) and that is what Christian bands do. Rather than attacking his belief the Creed doesn't preach given I know they do...but ...don't have to much amunition on that angle....I took the side that preaching does not define Christian music...again, like my Normals. Or Even Five iron Frenzy, or the W's, or MXPX. Bugged me severly. I could elaborate more, but I don't really feel like it. About ready to leave for Thanksgiving Break.
