| Fear Dot Com September 12, 2002 7:14 p.m. Related Reading So last weekend a small group of us went to see Fear dot com. Small group of four of us. They all wanted to go because they were in the mood to go see a shitty horror movie. But I didn't want to go because I didn't want to waste $8 on a movie that would suck, so B bought my ticket. Anyway, the movie did in fact suck, but the artists had fun. Most of the digital effects thought out the movie (*Note, I don't say film) were really really good, with the exception of some cockroaches. ...like The Cell, there was a great deal of abject digital art. ...These were artists. The images were absolutely beauiful (in the abject sense) and very well done!) The set design was also very good.
However, the entire thing was a Fincher rip-off! I swear, David Fincher should sue! This movie steals so many of its shots from Se7en! They recreate the apartment entrance scene from Seven atleast 3 times. ...One of which is ABSOLUTELY identical, except for the fact that it sucks.
You can't tell me that doesn't look like seven. Not only are they ripping off the shots, but also the look. It looks like a shitty Fincher film (oh..Fincher films include: Se7en, Panic Room, Fight Club, The Game...) The lighting and the sets are trying to be Fincher....and the sets are cool, but the lighting is absolutely shitty. ...there are some times when it works, but most of the time they can't pull it off. Examples:
One thing this movie isn't lacking is nipples. I told my friends that when it comes out on video we have to rent it, and then take 2 shots for every nipple and 1 for every covered boob shot. I swear the first part of the movie is filled with nipples! and then it was like they decided that they needed to leave something to the imagination, and still showed lots of boobs, just not the nipples. And I'm not even going into the story...or lack there of. Everything in here was so inacturate that it was ridiculous. It's like they didn't even care to try. For example, the lead chick (who is the worst part of the movie, she is so awful) works for the CDC. She comes in to investigate whether or not the deaths are caused by a virus. ...THEREFORE when they prove not to be....POOF she should be gone. She is no longer a part of the investigation. But I guess they just forgot about that. Wow, there is so much more,...but I'm starving, and I need to grab some dinner before BB3. Rent this only to watch and mock (or to cheer on the artists) ..or to play the drinking game, I'm sure that will make it much better. September 12, 2002 5:56 p.m. Related Reading yea! things were less bad (for me atleast) today. (B had a really shitty day and I wish I could help. but I can't, so there's no reason for me to worry about it. .....wow, did I just write that? do I honestly think that?) Anyway, since I am having a better day, I'll write a happier entry. About a week ago I had a meeting with my Women Artists professor. She is hecka cool and used to date My Folklore professor It is quite a shame they broke up, they were severly cute. Anyway, she and I spoke for atleast an hour! We spoke alot about film, and apparently she is is a Fincher fan. She told me how she is about to be published and the article is an analization of Panic Room and she is complaring it to (I believe) 18th century art. I really dig that I have found someone who I can sit down and analyze film with! Someone New! I gave her my email address and my phone number and told her to give me a call and we would go have coffee and chat sometime. ..I also need to take her one of my copies of fight club. She loves Fincher, but hasn't seen it because she was under the impression that it was really violent. ...But that's the thing, it's this really intellectual film that is disguised as a violent, sexual Guy movie. It's nice to find someone here to talk about film with. I have a friend back home that I watch movies with an analyze them with, but again, she's not here. ......The person here who I used to talk movies with was T. ..and well. that's another subject in itself. B and I watch movies alot together, but we don't really analyze them,...which is why I use my diary for that.
