I just saw 25th Hour. This is honestly one of the best films I have seen in a long time. I went it to it expecting it to be rather good because I have a gigantic Edward Norton fan. I was impressed by him in his first role (Primal Fear) and I have been hooked ever since. I saw a bit about this film when EN was on Inside the Actor’s Studio. He spoke of his life time admiration for Spike Lee. …For whatever the reason, maybe I’m narrow minded, but I am not very familiar with Spike Lee’s films. I saw a bit of Malcolm X when it came out on video, but aside from that, nothing. I was so impressed with this film I might have to see some of this other work.

The emotion development is incredible. This film is almost entirely actor driven. You can see the wheels turning in the heads of every actor, and watching them move though this emotional ride is absolutely incredible. I cannot honestly say when the last time I saw characters in a film with so much depth, so much emotion, so much going on with out speaking. The only thing I can think to liken it to is Sally Field’s performance in Norma Rae.

I was temporarily angered when it seemed the film would end other than it should, But…that was brief. And absolutely brilliant film I must own, and I have seen some good films lately, Chicago was amazing, but….this,…nah, this has to go on my top 10 of all time,…if not top 5. God Bless Edward Norton, proving again and again why I love him.
